Bruce explains why he donates plasma

IMG 3560
I started giving blood in the late 1970's but ended up stopping due to transferring all the time for work. However once I settled down in Mosgiel in the 90's I started again donating whole blood when the collection team used to visit Mosgiel.
One time I contracted shingles and had to inform NZ Blood that I couldn't donate and that's when they suggested donating plasma as shingles produces antibodies in our system which called "Zosta" for short, is used for fighting Leukemia in children. And as they say "the rest is history" as I've been a plasma donor ever since and donate as often as permissible. I also pay tribute to my employer who allows me some time off to donate.
