Amazing Story
Pauline's a universal donor
When I was a teenager, I lived in a small rural South Island town Otematata, the Blood Bank came to the village on particular day, and was asking for people to donate blood. I was a bit reluctant at first, due to the fact I didn't like needles and probably a bit scatter-brainish. In the end I did, found out I am O-, which is the universal blood and much needed. Since then I have donated blood when I could and over the last 10 or so years tried to give on a more regular basis. It sometimes not that easy as I live on a farm, but I do try to get into town to do it. I always carry my card when I travel, which came in handy on one cruise I was on, a ship mate injured himself and over the speaker needing a donor. Felt proud that I could put my hand up. I always encourage people to donate blood, I will continue to do so until I am in a position I can't.
